LIFT SHAFTS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS A LIFT SHAFT?

A lift shaft is the vertical space within a building in which the lift travels through and provides the lift car with clear, unimpeded travel between floors.  The lift shaft is designed to house the lift car and its associated equipment, although sometimes lift machinery is located in rooms located outside the shaft (i.e. hydraulic lifts).

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF LIFT SHAFTS?

There are a variety of lift shafts available within the Australian marketplace:

  • Modular aluminium shaft (AU Shaft and TA Freestanding)
  • Timber shaft cassette
  • Steel shaft
  • Steel ladder shaft
  • Blockwork shaft

We highly recommend our modular aluminium shafts which are a superior option when compared to other products and methods.

HOW MUCH SPACE IS REQUIRED FOR A LIFT SHAFT?

Our lift shafts are customisable to a large range of sizes. The modular design of our shafts allow for easy adjustment on site, especially the AU Shaft.

CAN LIFT SHAFTS BE INSTALLED INTO EXSISTING PROPRETIES?

Yes, all our shafts can be installed into existing properties. Our shafts are flat packed and don’t need to be craned in. Their modular design allows them to be easily installed on site, regardless of the surrounds.

HOW MUCH DOES A LIFE SHAFT COST?

The price of our lift shafts are dependent on the number of levels required. The AU shaft is our most affordable option and is highly recommended to save costs and potential issues with regards to building works. The AU shaft also comes included with our Eltec Volare elevator which is exceptional value. The TA Freestanding shaft is a premium option which comes complete with shatter resistant glass and a seamless external finish.
